Requesting a Reporter's Record for an Appeal

Court On The Record prepares certified Reporter's Records for appeals pending in the Texas Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Texas.

If you are an attorney, self-represented litigant, or legal assistant requesting a Reporter's Record, please submit your request as soon as possible after filing the Notice of Appeal. Prompt submission helps avoid unnecessary delays in the appellate process.

Before You Submit Your Request

Please have the following information available:

• Trial court cause number

• Style of the case

• Court number

• Date(s) of the hearing(s) or trial to be transcribed

• Name of the requesting party

• Attorney's name, firm, email address, and telephone number (if applicable)

• Whether a complete or partial Reporter's Record is being requested

• Any applicable appellate cause number, if assigned

What Happens After Your Request Is Received

Once your transcript request is submitted:

1. Your request is reviewed to verify that a Reporter's Record exists for the requested proceeding(s).

2. If clarification is needed, you will be contacted.

3. The requested proceeding(s) will be scheduled for preparation.

4. Upon completion of the Reporter's Record, an invoice will be issued in accordance with applicable law and payment arrangements.

5. The certified Reporter's Record will be electronically filed with the appropriate appellate court and served on the parties as required.

Important Information

• Submission of a transcript request does not guarantee that a Reporter's Record exists for the requested proceeding.

• Some hearings may not have been reported or may not require a Reporter's Record.

• If no Reporter's Record was taken, you will be notified.

• If we have not received a transcript request for your appeal, no Reporter's Record will be prepared until a request is received.

• If you believe a transcript request should have been submitted but has not been received, please complete the online Transcript Request Form.

Appellate Deadlines

The appellant is generally responsible for:

• Timely requesting the Reporter's Record.

• Designating the proceedings to be included in the record.

• Complying with the applicable Texas Rules of Appellate Procedure regarding the appellate record.

Delays in submitting a transcript request may affect appellate deadlines established by the Court.
